Diptyque’s Enchanted Forest is Unveiled as We Get Ready for the Festive Season

A festive winter collection born from an artistic dialogue with Jean-Simon Roch

Deep in the heart of winter, within the warm, inviting atmosphere of a Paris workshop, poetic figures inspired by winter flora and fauna come to life. Under the precise hands of artist Jean-Simon Roch, turned wood dances into sculpted form - animating a festive ballet where traditional craftsmanship meets sensory wonder.

To celebrate the season, Maison Diptyque unveils a limited-edition collection centered around wood, featuring characters and kinetic motifs designed by Roch. Scented candles, eaux de parfum, and artisanal home objects invite collectors and design aficionados to celebrate under a starry winter sky.

Craftsmanship in Motion: The Art of Woodturning

At the intersection of industrial design, fine craft, and plastic arts, Jean-Simon Roch has established a distinct creative language centered on woodworking. Working closely with Diptyque’s poetic ethos, Roch hand-turns, sculpts, and paints natural timber, crafting acorn-shaped spinning tops, mischievous owls, and pine tree totems that move as if imbued with a gentle, living spirit. This collaboration harmonizes materiality and olfactory heritage: organic wood textures interact with Diptyque’s iconic graphic codes and signature fragrance compositions, bridging tactile art and perfumery.

Design Details & Tactile Materials

Wood serves as the collection’s primary hero material, lending tactile warmth across objects and packaging details. Diptyque’s signature oval is reinterpreted in relief and finished with dancing golden typography. From hand-crafted candle lids and timber bottle caps to bespoke decorative accents, each piece showcases the grain and character of natural wood.

Conceived in the spirit of a wood-turner’s cabinet, the Advent Calendar features twenty-five curated Diptyque creations—ranging from discovery-size eaux de parfum to scented candles and home accessories—housed in custom illustrated wood-grain packaging.

Olfactory Elegance: The Festive Scent Palette

The centerpiece of the seasonal fragrance story is Sapin (Pine Tree)—an evocative blend of Siberian fir, balsam fir, cedarwood, and forest moss. Presented in deep green lacquered glass vessels adorned with gold stars and wooden oval labels, Sapin offers an authentic olfactory portrait of winter pine.

Highlighting Diptyque’s ceramic mastery, the Very Large Sapin Candle is encased in hand-enameled ceramic individually hand-painted with gold star motifs. Complementing the candle lineup are sculptured wax pieces, including a 2.5 kg Feu de Bois Scented Tree Stump and the hand-turned Perfumed Spinning Top designed to release scent through kinetic movement.

Curated Editions & Collector's Art Pieces

Three flagship eaux de parfum - Orphéon, Do Son, and Eau Rose - are dressed for the season with gold lettering on black wood labels. Rounding out the decorative collection are flame-blown borosilicate glass accessories, porcelain match trays, and hand-blown glass baubles encasing forest figures.

For collectors, Jean-Simon Roch has created five numbered, kinetic wooden sculptures available exclusively at Maisons Diptyque in Paris and London. Intersecting high design, sensory storytelling, and centuries-old woodworking craft, the collection offers an elegant immersion into Diptyque’s enchanted winter universe.
