Tucked away in the artist-rich village of Borrby, southern Sweden, lies a villa that serves as both a home and a strong statement of textile designer Toyine Sellers’ creative philosophy

Dating back to 1925, this architectural gem is a prime example of Swedish Grace, the sophisticated and symmetrical style that defined the 1920s. With its smooth plaster façades and interiors marked by softly curved, molding-free ceilings, the house feels at once historic and effortlessly modern.

For Toyine Sellers, Borrby - in the scenic region of Österlen - was a deliberate choice. Often dubbed the “Provence of Sweden,” this enclave offers an idyllic escape, positioned perfectly between the vibrant cities of Malmö and Copenhagen, yet only minutes from the rugged, pristine beauty of the Swedish coast. Here, surrounded by fields, wildflowers, and the rhythmic cycle of the seasons, the designer finds the quietude essential to her work.

Sellers’ journey into the world of textiles began under the mentorship of Peter Marino, an experience that shifted her trajectory toward the artistry of weaving. In 2010, she established her eponymous atelier in the Vercors, France, a hub of creativity where she transforms the finest raw materials—silk, linen, wool, cotton, and leather—into made-to-order masterpieces. At TOYINE, production is a deeply human endeavor. With a team of highly skilled weavers, Sellers conceives fabrics that are less like commodities and more like fine art. By blending unexpected yarn combinations, she creates custom textiles for the global interior market that evoke the emotional resonance of abstract paintings and the complexity of shifting landscapes.

Her creative process is that of a "curious explorer." Whether it is the play of light in her Borrby garden or the memory of a distant landscape, Sellers translates the world around her into tangible form. This intimate connection to nature is perfectly captured in her recent work, including her debut outdoor collection, MANUS OS Trois Cent (MO.300).

Designed to bridge the gap between traditional craftsmanship and the technical demands of outdoor living, the collection features a palette inspired by the warmth of the sun and the vibrancy of wildflower fields—apricot, lapis, sage, and sun-drenched yellows. It is this unique ability to imbue performance fabrics with "poetic tactility" that has earned TOYINE a place on both the AD Top 100 and Elle Decor's A-List.
