In the heart of the bustling Deji Phase I, a unique sanctuary unfolds on the 7th floor: a washroom meticulously designed by X+Living, transforming a mundane space into a contemplative study room. This innovative design distills the essence of calligraphy strokes - introduction, development, shift, and integration - into a fluid spatial cadence, offering an immersive experience reminiscent of wandering through ancient inked manuscripts

Designed by X+Living, the spatial envelope presents a captivating dual-layer design, echoing a half-open traditional Chinese thread-stitching binding book. The inner layer boasts European-style relief frames and Roman column wainscoting, radiating a classical Western aesthetic akin to the gilded emblems on an ancient tome's title page. Complementing this, the outer layer, composed of delicate horizontal metal-wooden lattices, creates a layered visual rhythm, symbolizing the meticulous order of book pages. Together, these elements form a tranquil study room, a hidden oasis amidst urban dynamism.

Upon entering, the corridor, paved with luxurious Cloudora Gray marble, guides visitors with undulating arcs on the floor and ceiling. These curves, outlined with black lines, resemble annotations on the edge of a book page, not only directing movement but also engaging in a visual dialogue with the winding garden paths found in the public areas of the same floor.

Along the corridor, three display zones are thoughtfully arranged, simulating the unhurried rhythm of reading. Vertical architectural contours are seamlessly connected by undulating lines on the floor and walls, mimicking the natural flow of a brush stroke. The first and middle display zones feature rectangular seating flanked by double-layered arc-shaped display tables showcasing books. These books, alongside the resting benches, serve as mutual annotations, elevating the simple act of stopping to flip through a book into a narrative within the space. The display tables’ curved surfaces are meticulously crafted to embrace the wall curvature, creating a welcoming embrace. A dedicated resting area transitions between the two display zones, while the final zone centers around a bookstand with wall-aligned resting seats.

The lounge area emerges as a contemplative corner, fostering a philosophical atmosphere of "quiet reading and wisdom." A central circular transparent table, resembling a solidified inkstone, is encircled by arc-shaped seats that mimic the natural curvature of an open book page, forming a private enclosure. A floor lamp, playfully integrated into the sofa with concealed wiring, maintains the visual purity of the space.

Within the wash area, a miniature reading rack finds its place on the elegant green marble washbasin, acting as a subtle spatial installation. The custom chandelier, a true highlight, takes the form of a curled book page. Its spine connects to the lamp rod, with downward-spread pages emitting light, symbolizing the profound illumination and inspiration that books provide. As individuals tidy themselves, the mirror captures a "self-reflection image" of the book lamp, book rack, and their prepared selves, serving as a gentle reminder to pause amidst the city's pace and find a moment of tranquility to regain inner order in this serene study room.

The designer's transformation of calligraphy strokes into a perceptible experience invites visitors to wander through a study room steeped in cultural charm. The harmonious blend of dark ink and warm wood tones, the fluid spatial lines, and the interwoven functions of reading and resting all serve as powerful carriers of cultural imagery, ultimately creating a spiritual blank space within a commercial environment.
