遇見不同凡響的你,來一場與水的詩意邂逅

「你認出了在水中你的倒影,可你看到在你身體中的水嗎?」

當代著名美國藝術家羅尼.霍恩 (Roni Horn) 在她由Pola美術館呈獻的日本首場美術館個展中,提出了以上疑問。

生於1955年的霍恩以概念性作品聞名中外,透過豐富的創作媒介,如攝影、雕塑、繪畫和書籍,展現以大自然為主題,而又風趣幽默的系列作品。1975年起在冰島偏遠地區獨自旅遊的經歷,啟發了她的生活和創作視角。是次展覽聚焦霍恩從八十年代至今的藝術創作,探討她在當下世界觀與真相觀變幻無常的時代提供的不定性空間,藉着不同環境與水產生不同的關係,從而改變水的形態和外觀,反映東亞哲學裡常會提及的人類心靈與世事無常議題,讓我們在永不歇息的河川裡,也能找到內心自省的勇氣和靈感。

在泰晤士河攝影系列《靜水(例如泰晤士河)》《Still Water (The River Thames, for Example),1999》中,霍恩對水面進行了大量詳盡註解;在《你就是天氣,第二部分》《You are the Weather, Part 2,2010-11》裡,霍恩拍攝了一名女性於六個星期間,在冰島溫泉的100幅特寫肖像,記錄她不斷變換陰晴的面部微妙變化。

另外還包括了以冰島地圖為基礎的繪畫作品,以及令人聯想起水面反光的玻璃雕塑。後者可說是霍恩近年最重要的作品,以玻璃非固體、也非液體的曖昧身分,來回應藝術家模糊而開放的創作。在美術館和外在的森林也擺置了這些玻璃雕塑,透過光線折射和倒影,帶出靜止與動態、溫柔與強硬、表層與深淵、透明與巨型體積之間的矛盾特性。而視之為「就像呼呼一樣」的繪畫活動,則是霍恩自1982年創作至今一直不曾變化的創作方式,以抽象的線條和圖案,交織出處不同的也有出處不同的詩歌、戲劇文本,在七件達三米高的大型畫作裡,與會者能近距離觀察霍恩在作品裡糅合的手寫符號、記號與切口,暗喻作品曾為切碎再以精細手工重組。
