Visionary Hairdresser Christophe-Nicolas Bicot's Paris Residence is a Visual Kaleidoscope

A peek into his colourful life

Commencing his career in his hometown of Mulhouse, Christophe-Nicolas Bicot was thrust into the spotlight when he was 17 by the artistic direction at Wella France. Here, he learnt the importance of the right movement: dexterity, precision, and speed, which became essential qualities during his shows. Each of his shows is designed as a visual performance and his artistic choices leave nothing to chance; music, design and models are meticulously selected. Bicot professes, “to be successful in this profession, you need to be talented, passionate and hardworking, have a bit of luck and meet some beautiful people along the way.”

His whirlwind career begs one to question how he rejuvenates and recharges, and naturally, come to the conclusion that his home must be quite the haven. Bicot’s abode is located on the Saint-Germain-des-Prés, and is much like the talented force: colourful, joyful and lively. After a decade living on the right bank of Paris, he decided to move closer to his salon in the 6th arrondissement and instantly fell in love with this bright, intimate apartment, with exceptional panoramas. On the penthouse of a typically Haussmannian building, he unwinds by breathing in the 360-views over Paris.

Bicot has a huge following, with the celebrities including the likes of Isabelle Huppert, Laetitia Casta, Juliette Binoche, Emmanuelle Seignier, Melody Gardot, Benoît Magimel, Amanda Lear, Elodie Fontan and Yasmina Reza, who enjoy frequenting his salon. Mutually inspired by these talented personalities, it would seem that Bicot has taken the narrative of creative dialogues between fashion icons for his home – for example, portraits of Yves Saint Laurent and Kate Moss, and combining them with other contemporary photographs, including some signed by Ludwig Favre and Nicolas Bets.

This creates a strong visual identity which is striking against the contemporary backdrop of the interiors - pure white and pale grey walls as well as neutral flooring. Bicot has chosen sleek, stylish furnishings throughout the home, the lines and details of which contrast beautifully which his choice of textiles and decorative accessories where graphic, colourful patterns reign. The overall effect strikes a balance between harmony and a zest for the senses, all the while showcasing his fantastical persona.
